I was fortunate to get in this frame, 7 of the 8 wolves who lingered on the mountainside high above the Lamar River where their meal ticket awaited. The mating pair (undoubtedly alpha male and female) which are found in my other recent postings, led the way down to the Bison carcass by the river and and carefully investigated before howling to signal the others that it was safe. The pack did not move together but in pairs and threes taking various roundabout routes to the kill. The alpha pair ran out toward them and greeted the earlier arrivals – then 3-4 at a time they took turns feeding.
