Passing the review stand

I saw the bishop up there just ahead
waving he was from his high post. His
smile was wide and genuine, while he
seemed quite pleased, watching, waving,
gesturing, I was anxious to be seen.
I held my bugle proudly, looked forward
sharply, tried to stay in proper cadence.
And then like a thunder burst, a voice like
directly from heavens review stand,
I heard my name called. He saw me, he
noticed me, he acknowledged just me…
me, and he applauded me!
I was never so proud to be singled out.
For a brief moment I learned that I was
special.
As I passed the review stand.
