Cary drew in biro from the age of 4 until his first oil painting at the age of 16. With the strong foundation of the values of drawing when he began painting there was an explosion of bright colour in his art. The creative flood-gates had opened! Cary has won many Art Awards all over Australia, ranging from The Portland Art Prize and more recently the Bendemeer Art Prize (twice).
“With my art, I focus on the beauty of our environment and our effect we have upon the natural world.”

  • thanks Christine… as a kid in Innisfail – I was blessed with several opportunities to be present when the men would light up the canefire in the twilight….watch out for snakes and big rats that would run or crawl up your leg to get away from the flames! we always ran for the back of the Land Rover Ute when they came out of the burning fields …hey I might paint that! :-)

The genius of Rembrandt is the fact that he kept his pictures relatively monochromatic. Contrary to other contemporary Dutch painters that used the whole spectrum of colors. I am a big fan of his drawings where he shows that the other ingredient of his genius was to capture the most dramatic moment.
One can see in this painting how you used the drama in the face to support it with the fire. A third of our brain activity is busy interpreting facial expressions. We are conditioned this way from childhood on as a matter of survival.
    You did something strong here.Bravo.

  • Thank you for stopping by and for your valuable feedback, much appreciated! Wow to connect me with that Master is a complement indeed…thank you! I am also a big fan of Rembrandt. Ü
