Woodstock Brolga by Cary McAulay

Currently unavailable for purchase

Back in ’89 I was traveling back from a Painting Expedition to Ravenswood in North Queensland with 3 other artists…my brother Tom, Ludij Peden and Richard Clarke, as we drove through an area west of Townsville called Woodstock, the Moon was coming up….we had to stop . This old shed was right next to the highway, we knew about it and had planed to stop to get some shots anyway, but with the moon making a timely appearance, we were all thrilled! There were Brolgas there as well, off in the distance, so I put one flying into land…for effect. Fond Memories whenever I look at this one.
:o) (this painting trip was part of a documentary by Channel 7 – check out some of my other works of Ravenswood)

Cary drew in biro from the age of 4 until his first oil painting at the age of 16. With the strong foundation of the values of drawing when he began painting there was an explosion of bright colour in his art. The creative flood-gates had opened! Cary has won many Art Awards all over Australia, ranging from The Portland Art Prize and more recently the Bendemeer Art Prize (twice).
“With my art, I focus on the beauty of our environment and our effect we have upon the natural world.”
