Cary drew in biro from the age of 4 until his first oil painting at the age of 16. With the strong foundation of the values of drawing when he began painting there was an explosion of bright colour in his art. The creative flood-gates had opened! Cary has won many Art Awards all over Australia, ranging from The Portland Art Prize and more recently the Bendemeer Art Prize (twice).
“With my art, I focus on the beauty of our environment and our effect we have upon the natural world.”

The ancient of your land took dreams very seriously, they understood them. You have a deep connection to your land and it’s awesome that you are sharing with us through your paintings! I like the tree, trees are great beings :)

  • I agree, trees are the great ones, connected to the earth while touching the heavens! we have 5 acres of ‘Bush’ up in the mountains. we go up there regularly to connect with the Eucalypts there, and the many native fauna, no electricity no mod cons back to basics with a wood stove, painting and books, and at night the haunting sound of the odd ‘bull’ Koala roaring/growling/grunting somewhere down by the creek. Love it!

This is a curious dream, though I am not familiar with
the glass house mountains. I like the face in the mountain.

  • Thanks, yeah I like to hide faces in my paintings…especially when I do rocks and trees! ;o)

fantastic stunning art Cary. it’s exactly as I saw and felt about the GHM the very first time, before freeways !

  • Thanks Virginia,
yes I used school holiday on a Dairy Farm at Peachester back in the 70s, the GHM won me over even back then…I have only recently in my career started to paint them in a way that ….well I am trying to connect with the spirit of them …on my own level…a personal journey towards understanding them…;o)
