Reflections
Recently I have found myself being drawn to reflections for photographic inspiration. On one day last week I managed to visit two completely different locations and ended up with reflections taken at both (Brecon Canal and Pentwyn Reservoir ). This is not a new approach for me – a few years ago I put together a series of abstracts using reflections on the River Taff. A project which I add images to whenever the opportunity arises.
So what makes reflections a good subject of choice? Well for a start they’re everywhere. Rivers, lakes, canals, the sea, even the humble puddle can yield images worth capturing. Often the results are abstract, which appeals to me, but if you’re more interested in what I would call straight photography then there are plenty of opportunities for utilising reflections in your images (as some of my images around Pentwyn Reservoir illustrate).
Here are some more examples.
