Layers of subtle glazes were used trying to create a flowing natural backgroud to this magnificent variety of gum trees. The texture of the knots were equally important. Leaving the looseness of the larval tracks to the last.
This work was created to support an upcoming exhibition by the Southern Printmakers Association entitled ‘Earthwritings’.

awesum this is right up my alley!!
Really great. Nature could possibly not do it better!
Wow. This is an impressive work. The first thing that came to my mind was: ‘trees are very sensuous sometimes’. As if you carefully sculptured this shapes. They flow and glow and there is so much life and even mystery in it. love the idea of zooming in to the trees which makes them to a facinating abstract. The handwriting is couraguous and perfect. I can almost read it. The colours are stroking my soul. Also if I look at this paintings I can see your great control over the paint and your advanced technique .. pfew … makes one speechless. Did you use some sort of glazing technique? There is so much transparancy in it.
Glazing is exactly what I did, well spotted. I wanted the colours to be subtle and blend together naturally. I also wanted to build up the texture in the dark areas and the knots. Here I used a wax medium which leaves a delicious brush mark. Thank you once again everyone for your wonderful comments. They are very much appreciated!
Beautiful work
Impressive Marilyn and I like the idea of the three canvasses.I`d like to do something similar myself.
Again a work of beauty, love the colours. Lovely.
Oh this just blows me away. Such beautiful pieces of abstract work, at one point I’m thinking they’re alluding to parts of the human form another would be woodgrain and at other times they look like pictures of the sky. Absolutely gorgeous!
