This is terminal moraine, prairie. If you can close your eyes (or maybe not), think of the bison herds grazing from where you stand and as far as you can see in all directions. That was then; this is now.

Though they are missing, sadly, the landscape still holds trails and old wallows and always the cottonwoods follow the creeks and rivers.

And over it all, the Big Sky of Montana. I believe this is taken on the Wormser Loop Road in Big Timber.
