Carolina wren fledgling, Bayou George, FL, Sony W50. Checked on the babies living in the nest made in a hole in the lining of the bedspread on the clothesline. This one was at the edge of the nest and crept back at my approach. Took the picture; off he flew. Tried to catch him, but he went into the woods on the other side of the fence. Felt like a murderer. Said a prayer for this baby…then the parents appeared, looked puzzled when the baby wasn’t there. Flew off to find him. They did. I could hear them coaxing him further into the woods. Later that night I checked again. All the babies had fledged that day…July 4, 2011.
