Gray Hairstreak on Jasmine by May Lattanzio

The little tails which move constantly are a hairstreak’s protection from predators. A hungry bird will grab that moving tail and as they break off, the butterfly flies away unscathed.

This one was on my jasmine which grows up my porch.
