Artist's Description

These are some of the potsherds I have picked up after the rains in my neighborhood and on my street, before it was paved. The white “ball”, one of two, were used as cooking stones. I keep this collection in a woven willow basket.

The early Creek Indians lived here, close to Econfina and Bear Creeks.

The local Creeks belong to the Muskogee branch of the tribe, which if I am correct, extends up into Alabama.
