A boulder in Montana along the Stillwater River Gorge.

Absolutely beautiful “in person”.

“AKO TAHA TOHATU” (Across Time)

The rock speaks to me
from its niche on the trail.
I see a raven,
the face of a wolf,
a map,
cloud shadows on the land,
Orange hawkweed,
a caterpillar,
the skull of a horse
the footprint of a cougar
and inscriptions in ancient tongues
I don’t understand.
I see the ages,
the cataclysmic upheavals and cooling,
carving waters that made this land.
What does it mean?
A silver-haired sage tells me,
“It means welcome home”.
If that is true, then yes.
My heart is already there.
It won’t be long until I follow it home.

I love this rock.

Very nice rock – to me it suggests various modern artists, and the whole thing has a shape of a horse’s head … Great shot!
