A shade tolerant native that grows east of the Mississippi from Florida to parts of southern New England. Fragrant, grows to 8 ft.

This particular shrubby rose grows wild in “my” swamp in late spring and early summer. “My swamp” is the one I kayak in nw Florida in Bayou George in the waters of Econfina and Bear Creeks which converge to form Deerpoint Lake.

Produces “hips”.

From seed; direct sow outdoors in fall
By simple layering
By air layering

This rose lives at water’s edge on SR2301, on the curve over Bear Creek, Bayou George, FL.
