Florida Skullcap (Scutellaria floridana) by

This medicinal perennial herb grows in three habitats in Bayou George, FL. Two are in roadside ditches along CR2301 in Bayou George, and on Bayou George itself at the water’s edge in the yard of a private home.

It is endangered in Florida and threatened elsewhere in the United States.

Since the ditches are mowed and cleaned by Bay County for maintenance, many wildflower species are destroyed before they set their seeds.

Thank you so much for the honors. There were NO wildflowers this year. Too much rain. Had a lot of flooded ditches . No butterflies, either. Sad year.
