The two hands we were given to create

I hear voices that are struggling with hate
They say why allow people to profit off of rape?
And because we are protective of our homes
We mark it with red tape
Saying anyone who has a difference of opinion should suffer a horrific fate
And in that moment we become the source of disgrace
We become the people that we blame
We justify our claims with higher morality
But the truth is we don’t have the heart of a saint
And that judgment isn’t ours to make
Sadly, preventing one lame trying to make a dollar off shame
Won’t stop a million others from doing the same
And wanting to stop it all it causes such a strain
We pour ourselves out emotionally down the drain
Losing sight of why we came here in the first place
It was to share our view of the world
Not be washed away in preventing what others had to say
We were born into a world of give and take
If you think you can stop mankind’s violence and rage
You’ll end up like an animal stuck in a cage
Ready to attack another for survival simply by becoming enraged
And the sensitive souls think it’s better to just walk away…

Maybe it’s because an artist’s heart tends to be filled with pain
We react quickly trying to prevent others from feeling the same way
And as soon as we do that we forget the most important lesson I can give you today
Instead of screaming with things to say, sing for the change you wish was made

Because we could spend forever pointing fingers towards the blame
Forgetting that our hearts pump the ink with which we paint
And if you want to see a world full of the beauty and peace for which we aim
Look no further than the two hands you were given to create

The two hands we were given to create
