Great white sharks of False Bay, South Africa, have developed a very unique and impressive hunting technique to catch seals, breaching completely out of the water doing so.
As far as I know this is the only place in the world where they can be seen performing such exercise.
I published this image 24 hours ago and had the most amazing feedback since then (much appreciated, by the way…). A lot of people appear to be quite concerned with the seal’s fate… but the trick is this is a dummy seal, pulled by a boat to attrack the shark right in front of my lens. Shooting such an image with a real seal is almost impossible since there are thousands of them around the place and there is no way to know when and where the shark will strike… unless YOU are the hunter! Therefore I am pleased to say no animal was hurt during the shooting of this photograph.
