Lilies of the Valley
Little spring wonders, these incredibly tiny flowers, most about the size of a hat pin’s pearl top, are growing like crazy on the dark side of our house. Shade loving plants, these really thrive and look great mixed with Hosta. They bloom in the early to mid spring creating a carpet of little lovelies!

maxy replied
Thank you so much Tina! Had to really get down to get a shot of these… and they were so small! They tend to hid under their leaves…

maxy replied

used to have these in our garden when i was a kid, not seen any in years! lovely, and a timely reminder!
maxy replied
Thank you so much Dougie! These are growing like crazy in that one area on the side of our house. Our neighbors saw them one day and we were able to give them some transplants.
skyhorse
beautiful capture, hardly ever see these nowadays & they are such pretty flowers
maxy replied
Thank you so much skyhorse. I almost never see them around either these days except on that one side of our house – gave some to our neighbors hoping to keep them spreading and not sure how theirs turned out…delicate little flowers!
Victoria Sheldon
I just love these flowers. Mine are just starting to get buds. Very nice image of them!!!
maxy replied
Thank you so much Victoria! It took me a lot of tries with different cameras and light but finally got a few pics of them! The flowers tend to want to hide!
Carol Lewsley
What a lovely looking plant Maxy love the flowers
maxy replied
Thank you so much Carol! These are now growing like crazy in their favorite spot and hopefully will continue through June…the weather up here’s been so odd. Last night it was in the 20’s and we had to pull a lot of plants inside!
Mindy McGregor
Very nice work Maxy!!!!!!!!
maxy replied
Thank you so much Mindy! Finally was able to get a pic of them – tried for several years but always just couldn’t get them – they tend to want to hide under all those big leaves!

deegarra
OH I LOVE THESE FLOWERS,, THE LIGHTING HERE IS FANTASTIC, IT’S SO PRETTY.
maxy replied
Thank you so much Dee! Many times I’d try to photograph these, with different light and cameras with no luck – they tend to hide under those huge leaves! Finally got flat on the ground and got one that way! lol!
dougie1
no room here for anything else!! have to split all my wild primroses this year.
my garden is mainly flowering evergreen, with the clematis(3) for spring colour, along with primrose and primula. i tried to get rid of my dafodils and tulips, so i could have a low maintenance garden when i was overseas. a few escaped though!
maxy replied
Hmmm…... I dont’ have any primroses… no clematis either… tulips gone (eaten by critters) but daffies thriving! Trade some Lillies of the Valleys for some Primroses!!?? Thanks Dougie!
raymondo
Nice shot…
maxy replied
Thank you Raymondo! These were tough to photograph as they only seem to grow in certain light and hide under thick leaves… so glad you like them!
dinghysailor1

Marjorie Wallace
Oh, how I love these little flowers. They bring back a memory of years ago when I used to throw pots at the pottery shed at a local park. Outside, all along the edge of the building were these flowers growing in great profusion and I can still recall the sweet fragrance. Sweetness!
maxy replied
Thank you so much Marjorie! They do seem to like the sides of buildings. I ate one once as a kid and they sort of reminded me of blueberries!
jacquei
You must have smelt their heavenly fragrance when you took this…........lucky you…...they grew in profusion in the shade of a bush in our garden and I do miss thier lovely smell….........great close up with pretty lighting….......jacquei

Pat Yager
These are wonderful, Maxy! I need to know your secret! I’ve had some planted in a couple of shady areas for a number of years, and finally this year, ONE blossom appeared! Any ideas? – Pat
maxy replied
Thank you so much Pat! They seem to like rather acidic soi, very moist soil and lots of shade in a spot where it only gets morning light. Grows beautifully with hosta lilies and other plants that don’t care for direct afternoon sun. Hope this helps! Thanks! xx
Cheryl Lunde

maxy replied
Thank you so very much Cheryl!!!
