Lost and Found ………. what a mission. I left Newcastle heading back up the coast to home and had a few locations on the list, starting with this one. So when i headed off, my destination was Laurieton. I intended to then jump on the laptop and check my google maps pin points for the directions i had marked down. OK ….. so i got to Laurieton and there was absolutely no internet reception at all, the sun was fading and i had to go by memory. I must have driven down every dirt road that DIDN’T lead to this jetty. Everytime i found a new one i was confident that it was now the right one. The car was covered in the thickest blanket of dust, the sun was fading further still and i was in the middle of a forest ……. maybe beside a lake ….. and then again maybe not. By now i had no idea which one of these tracks was going to take me back out to civilization and i hadn’t thought to through bread crumbs out behind me as i drove ………… wouldn’t have made a difference if i did … the vultures circling above would surely have eaten them :-)…
So eventually i found my way out of the forest and still i hadn’t found my jetty, at this point i thought i’d had enough and headed back into Laurieton for a feed and to grab some fuel. As i sat at the pub munching on my steak i watched the most impressive sunset and simply shrugged my shoulders and drowned in a Corona. Still no internet BTW. It was at the fuel station after dark that i was given the best directions to the jetty, and not wanting to miss sunrise i headed out there in the dead of night ………. half an hour down a dirt road into the thick of the State Forest. Well …….. when i arrived it was obviously absolutely pitch black, and by this time not a cloud in the sky. Star Trails i hear you say …….. me too ……… except it was too scary out there lol ………. ever felt that you weren’t entirely alone …… like there were another few sets of eyes in the trees, gleeming right at you. YEP …… another 1/2 hour dirt road trip right back out of there so that i could return at first light the next day. lol

I know …. long story

Hope you like the result of it though :-)
