Whenever I look at a portrait I always find myself looking into the models eyes to see how the image was lit. Generally the catch lights always give it away.

As a large format printer as well as an old tog I often get images that have to be printed up to 5ft wide. I did a job for a photographer the other day and he was amazed at how I was able to tell him the light set up he used with a large 6ft Octa softbox behind him and his camera on a tripod.

When I showed him the catch lights in the model’s eyes…his reflection was there to be seen….couldn’t quite make out what he was wearing though…LOL

This portrait of Integra was taken with what lights were available at the time…a beauty dish to the left and a softbox balanced to the right. If you view large you’ll see them.

Canon 1DS: 1/125, ISO 200, f11, lens at 80mm

Of course you knew I’d comment on this and it’s quite wonderful work. Your editing makes her look so angelic but I know better. ;)

  • Oh Yes….she is far from Angelic as we know too well!
