Another from my shoot with Czech model Iveta in Leicester. Found this lovely little set-up at the venue…I thought wow..1960/70’s retro.

A different style for me…wanted to try and recreate that Lomo, Holga, Diana style of image.

Shot with hot tungsten 800 watt lights which to my embarassment managed to blow all the fuses at the venue….and I had to revert to flash later!

Canon 1DS: 1/50, ISO 640, f4.0, lens a 50mm

Also this is an image which demonstrates the thirds principle in a picture. Here you can see how it works when composing your image. Hope you can make out the green grid!

Coooool shot Max!! Or should I say hot, considering you blew fuses?!! :)))

  • I was not the flavour of the month when I blew the fuses…as it stopped about 8 other togs shooting!

Love the styling, and the story telling.
That green wall and shrimp lamp shade kick. Of course this is how we lived at that time with a bit of entry level Mid Century Modern filled in with Boot Sale Chic.

  • Cheers Mark…I am going to start looking down the tip for a selection of retro items for the studio!

Very nice job Max and Iveta is as ever on form. The rule of thirds – one of the many compositional guides that sinks in to the creative subconscious and pops up when you least expect it. Works well here.

  • Yes Roger…I do subconsciously think in thirds…funny how the brain gets tuned in. Also saw some great works by a guy who works his images out on the “Golden Mean” spiral!
