Between The Lines

I found this dead insect in our house (Healesville, Australia) and have seen them before but don’t know the name. It looks so delicate yet fierce and I put it on some writing paper for a photograph. Computer.text added.

    I reckon it’s a type of ichneumon fly

    Thanks Duncan for the ID. I like the fact that it states, “Despite looking formidable, the ovipositor does not deliver a sting like many wasps or bees.”
