Why do you cower
Bend under his power
Stand tall
Don’t let him call all the shots
Wild, spirited woman
Don’t let him rule
Turn your head fool
Stand back
Don’t give him jack
He’s not earned
Warm, passionate woman
Don’t be a lover
He hides under cover
Stand up
Don’t let his foot
Keep you down
Strong, confident woman
Don’t let him dictate
Or your feelings frustrate
Stay true
You will come through
In the end!

I believe that women have the more powerful essence of the 2 sexes. However it is not a competition. Whilst men have done all they can to dominate women for fear of losing possession of the powerful beauty of women two wrongs do not make a right. If women really believed in themselves men would never have dominated them. Further if women really believed in themselves and were ture to their essence their power would so empower men to be true to their essence aswell. Any person true to essence would have no desire to dominate or possess another. So if women have the more powerful essence they really can inspire the world to love rather than compete.

The poem is not about women competing with men or being better than men. There are many women around the world who are dominated by their men folk and made to feel inferior and powerless. They do not see their worth and are abused and mistreated. My poem is about women recognising their worth and developing self esteem and confidence and beginning to stand up and refusing to be dominated. I don’t believe that women have the more powerful essence. Men and women are equal but different. My poem is for all the women I’ve met and there have been many who lacked self esteem and confidence and an inner self belief and because of this were exploited and abused. We need to get to a place where all women can look into their mirror and love the person staring back at them. My poem is not about women competing with men but learning to see themselves as strong, confident, passionate beings with worth.

Interesting, compelling and not a black and white situation.
there can never be a one-size-fits-all in this debate….take cultures, personal histories and religious beliefs into consideration – the equation is not a straight forward one and it is not the same for each woman and man – especially because of the diversty in the world in which we live.
it’s so easy to stnad on a podium and say “this is how it should be” or “this is how it shouldn’t be” – but that is bordering on arrogance – even though the intentions may be good, because it leaves out parts of the picture – a picture that each person owns and paints and lives themselves….nobody can dictate to another how it should or shouldn’t be…..ah this is an old debate and one to which solutions lie within the individual with support and care from those around them.
thanks for sharing this.
