Ever since day broke over shore and plain.
Laying down on sands of my flat terrain
I watch the colors smear across clouds.
I feel the gusts push the world to its tilt
As I hear every comet make its journey
Across such transformation of light and color.
Vivid black and dark blue swelling my view
As stars turn on to show me my way home.
A lighter in hand, I join their flicker and
Quietly motion to connect them together,
Just to see what it is that they’re trying to say.
The sea forever crashing, waves rolling away
The breeze from every bird’s wings as they
Fly over and pass, the warm silhouettes and
the velvet weather that they slowly create.
Making me wonder why they just don’t stay
And lay with me, so they can feel my ease and
Enjoy the quiet notes of such a perfect place.
