This is a very close up image of a Feather Star,taken in Alor,Indonesia.They feed by trapping small Planktonic organisms,which are transported in mucous stings down the arms& along ciliated food grooves to the mouth.Often seen on Gorgonian fans.

    wow, that amazes me Matt… it’s a similar process to how the villi in our stomachs work….to obtain the goodness from the food we eat, really is fascinating to see something like this so close up!
