Isle of Skye is one of the most magical places I’ve ever been. The landscapes are among the most beautiful anywhere on earth. In spring, it takes on an absolutely fantastical character. On one single day, I experienced sunshine, fog, rain, snow, and sleet. This day was a little bit gentler… but only a little.

My life is driven by the urge to observe, and process those observations. This has pushed me to pursue my PhD in scientific research, which is my current day job. It also profoundly influences my photography. This is why I often visit locations so many times — I don’t feel I can know the landscape’s personality until I’ve observed a large sample of the location’s weather, flora, seasons, etc. Only then can I understand what makes the place truly special, and begin to capture it.
