Fishing Cone

Matt Halls

Bohle Plains, Australia

Artist's Description

Apparently named by the early explorers who caught their fish whilst standing on this strange thermal feature. Without taking the fish off the hook, they paraboiled it in the vent of the cone – ready to eat!

Just off the shore of the Yellowstone Lake in the West Thumb Geyser Basin area.
Yellowstone National Park, WY, USA.
