Midnight Views in Windy City
I took this hdr shot to allow for a good even glow over the shot and still get the reflection of the street down below.
It also always reminds me of a drama, as after I went to bed after taking it, about 2 hours later my wife woke up in agony on the 38th floor in a Chicago apartment with a prolapsed disc and we had to ring 911!
Anyway, the 2 hours sleep was quite worth the effect..maybe!
Taken with 2 exposures – 1st with F3.5 aperture/5 secs shutter/500 iso
2nd with same aperture & iso with a 1 second shutter.
Thanks in advance for any views or comments.
Cheers,
Matt

Very nice. And not overdone in post, as HDRs so often are.
Good back story, too.

Stunning HDR, love it!

This is HDR at it’s best..i’ve seen too many HDR works that have a cartoony appearance and for me ruin the whole image but this is a whole new ball game extremely well done!
Matt Halls replied
Thanks for the very kind feedback Jacqueline!
I do agree, there seems to be so many HDR shots out there with way too much light-smoothing used lately. I don’t think they realise how totally unnatural it makes the entire scene appear.

Thanks to everyone above for the great comments.
