While sailing from Coffs Harbour in 2007 we watched this storm for an hour or more before it finally got us just outside Port Stephens. It was a real humdinger!Canon PowerShot 720ISISO80, 1/60s, f/4 f=6mm

Wow. See what you mean Matt.
We got it a couple of days later while crossing the English Channel. 6 gusting 7. Was a bit rough, and having to dodge all the commercial traffic also.
Matt, the clouds look so menacing, I like this better than the other one as I feel having the boat in the foreground give the picture scale and shows the enormity of the clouds and incoming storm, terrific capture…….Damien.
Thanks Damien, I know what you mean, I felt the same way but the other one has touched a nerve in so many more people, Maybe it’s because the other one is only depicting the enormity and awe of nature, nothing man made in it at all.
wow – very dramatic pic. I really like the black sea and those incredible clouds whilst still having the feeling of being on the boat :-)
Thanks for the comments Barb, It was a pretty dramatic storm, not one to forget in a hurry :>)
just one word.. IMPRESSIVE!
Jeepers!Matt, Batten down the hatches, there be a big storm heading our way off the starboard bow :-)s&ra
It was pretty exciting Mel, Netty reckoned it was going to go past us but Netty was wrong…
quite a rough storm indeed,it reminds me when we were at sea,and our boat had faults, and the weather was rough,, got me back the feeling—Charma
