A foggy morning lends a backdrop to a painter seeking to capture the essence of the mighty barque , now at rest in her home port in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
The Picton Castle is a 179’ Barque. Orginally a diesel trawler, she was converted into a sailing ship in the 1990’s. Since then she has made a world-famous name for herself, sailing around the world four times, with another to come beginning in the spring of 2009. She is a sail-training vessel, and regularly takes on paying trainees who seek an adventure travel experience, or to learn the ways of the traditional square-rigged sailing ship.
