Spoon Bay Dawn

Spoon Bay Dawn

This shot is from one of those mornings when you wake up and as you drive closer to the coastline you see the potential of what is about to follow.

Not only was the sunrise sensational the light that followed after the sun breached the horizon was also perfect light to shoot with.

All in all a fantastic morning of shooting. This one is shot on my Fuji GX617 with Velvia 50.

Awsome is the only word to describe it Matt!
I should get my 617 out, but it is so hard to get the negs scanned! Are you still able to get Velvia 50 in 120 format?

  • Matt Lauder replied

Thanks Ken and Neil. 617 is a beautiful format. Velvia 50 is easy to get hold of in 120 and 220 format. If your having trouble finding someone to scan your work let me know. I have my own Imacon 343 drum scanner and I do all my own scanning and also for quite a few other landscape photographers. All details are on my website under services.

    Beautiful!
Can I ask how long the shutter was open on this one!
    the colours are dazaling
    Keep them coming!

  • Matt Lauder replied

Thanks for the comment. Steve the shutter settings from memory were f16 @ 1 sec with a 3 stop ND grad for the sky. This is film not digital so I don’t have the luxury of camera data. Would be handy though. :)

Love th epink hues and a nice composition compliments it sensationally !

  • Matt Lauder replied

Thanks Tony… secretly I agree with your comment. Man I love shooting film. I shot this sunrise on digital as well but the red channel blew and bled. But I knew the shots on slide were perfect.
