Portelet Bay, Jersey.

The small island in the bay is called ‘Ile Au Guerdain’, with the tower being the ‘Janvrins Tomb’ – the islet is the last resting place of a sea captain, Philip Janvrin, whom it was feared had died of the plague and who’s body may therefore bring the plague onto Jersey. Janvrin was buried on the island in 1721 – the tower was a later addition to defend against French attacks in the 1800’s.
