Fogged in at the Gate by MattGranz

Currently unavailable for purchase

This is the shot I’ve been patiently waiting to get for close to two years.

A friend called and told me the fog was rolling in over the deck of the bridge, and so I immediately started my hour and a half long drive in hopes it would still be there when I arrived.

After taking four photos, the fog thinned and that was that.

Two years and a 90 minute drive for 4 photos. That is dedication Matt and so glad that all the waiting has paid off. I can only imagine what was racing through your mind on the drive as to whether the conditions were still there when you arrived.

The results are well worth the wait, just love how the mist hugs the traffic on the bridge whilst the bay area sits in perfect clarity.

  • Racing towards this reminded me very much of the four hour drive I did as I raced to a fantastic tornado near Boise City Oklahoma last spring. That one paid off too, but in both cases I was thinking I was crazy for making the trek…

Thanks for the wonderful comment Stuart!

WOW, amazing capture and definitely worth the long wait, although 2 years is pretty long :D … But having a more than very satisfying result is what photography is all about! Excellent composition and the exposure time is perfect, superb lighting and the fog adds an amazing perspective to the photo! Very well done! Favorite!

  • Thanks Brendon! The worst part of waiting two years was seeing uploads from friends who live close to the city, getting shots much like this (only in the daylight hours).

One of my favorite sayings is a quote by Thomas Jefferson; “The harder I work the luckier I get.” You have certainly worked hard and gotten very lucky with this image Matt it seems all the stars have lined up for you on this evening!

  • Bryan, to be perfectly honest, I got this shot because I broadcasted my wants to get this to about two dozen people local to San Francisco who can see when the fog lays over the bridge. Still, much patience was still required. I owe this shot to my good friend Miguel.
