On The Prowl
This photo was taken during cuttlefish mating season in about 2m of water, off Pt Lowly, Whyalla. The small red cuttlefish is a female, with the large male next to her putting on his color display. The two smaller males coming in from the right are attempting to draw the larger male away from his partner, for their chance to mate with her as well!

Excellent capture of an intimate moment. I suppose they just dont care when they are in the mood. Great insight into thier breeding habits.

Thanks for the comments everyone. This was taken on scuba, but you hardly needed it. I dive with the Adelaide Uni Scuba Club, there are quite a few avid photographers in the club. Sorry to hear about the surgery MuscularTeeth, feel free to come out for a dive once your nose has healed!

Pt Lowly is great in the season.. its just about impossible to take a photo there and not get at least one cuttlie in frame! Only a few more months and it’ll be back on again! :)
