Leafy Sea Dragon
A juvenile Leafy Sea Dragon (Phycodurus Eques) under the deteriorating jetty at Rapid Bay, South Australia. Until you get used to it, its very difficult to spot the dragons amongst the weed. They can be regularly seen at a number of sites around Adelaide.

Cheers guys! We were very lucky actually, we were camping nearby and the weather and been pretty rough for a few days, so we didn’t get a chance to dive. Finally the wind dropped off and we managed to get in the water before heading back to Adelaide. Somehow the visibility was the best I’ve seen down there!

Are there many shore dives where you can find these guys?

Fantastic…i like it!!

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to look and comment. There are two shore dives around Adelaide where the Leafys can be regularly seen. Rapid Bay Jetty is about 1 hour south of Adelaide, and is a very pretty dive, not just for the Leafys. If you really want to be guaranteed to find them the best place is probably Wool Bay Jetty, about 3 hours from Adelaide, around onto Yorke Peninsula. The jetty is very short and only about 3m deep, but you would be extremely unlucky not to find at least a few dragons there.
