The Day the World Fell Out of it's Tree by

Acrylic on canvas 40 × 60cm. Painted from reference material gathered on a weekend getaway to Thetford with my wife. This painting co incides with a crisis for my family that caused us to dramatically change our plans for the future. Originally it was going to be a landscape featuring this tree, but the tree gradually took over the painting. Without reading too much into it, as I painted and slowly realised the damage that had happened to the tree and how it had adapted to continue growth I couldn’t help but draw parrallels with our situation.

This is awesome! I didn’t feel like the tree was damaged, I admired the way you portrayed something that people might consider ‘ugly’ and showed us how beautiful it is! I hope your crisis had a silver lining in there somewhere too…
