This poor little bird was pretty cold – we are having some cold wind and rain today, and of course, nutjob me is out taking pictures.
Taken in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.
Slight crop and contrast enhancement.
bird, cold, bum, rat, pigeon, winged, chilly, puffy, tama blough
He’s so cute, all huddled up in himself like that! I feed them on cold days, just outside our building.
I was, unfortunately, foodless on this walk so I felt bad. Not like our park pigeons are exactly starved.
– Tama Blough
Having a 10-year-old who refuses to eat bread crusts is a help, haha. We save them, dry them all, and take them on walks. All the critters gang up for some. It’s cute.
Yeah, one of my pics is that big mass of them that happened when I had bread!
Oh, that is the cutest pic I have ever seen of a pigeon! Poor little fella, he needs a nice warm snug nest!
Thanks – he is pretty cute, There were lots of them so hopefully they cuddled up for the night.
Awww he really looks like he’s freezing! Did you consider to put this in the ImageWriting group?
No – I’ll check that group out! Thanks!
I didn’t know they could tuck themselves in! LOLOLOL! Pigeons just aren’t around me all that much. Sacramento has some but nowhere near the crow population. I always wanted to be in a scene like “Feed The Birds” in Mary Poppins but nothing but pigeons seems to do that the right way. Gulls will sorta do it but they are so greedy, they’ll fight each other rather than share enough for all.
I did have a Dr. Doolittle encounter with one that was brought to me while working – in a large insurance company! It looked a bit unhappy so I called to find out if it had that terrible avian flu but the advice I got was to kill it with a shovel and put it in the trash. If I had HAD a shovel at work, I might have beaten the phone while she was still telling me how she didn’t care if it was sick. Local animal control came out tho and he did a quick exam, determined it was OK, and promised to release it after food and water. Woo hoo!
Flying rats? Well, maybe. But I like some rats too! I have to. I live close to the State Capitol.
Birds fluff out when they are cold – they have built-in down jackets! I get ravens/crows and seagulls out that eh beach, and gulls and pigeons in the park. It’s hard to feed the ducks – the gulls get in the. But if you want a Tuppence a Bag pigeon experience, you come see me (see my image “Mass of Pigeons”). lol
I am more than fond of these guys!Lovely capture!-jinneyxx
thank you! I felt a little sorry for him, I must say.
I used to have a pigeon farm… in Indiana only the white ones or doves… awesome…
We get a few white ones in the mix. There was one park I used to have lunch in that had one white pigeon that was enormous, like a pigeon-and-a-half. Never did figure out his story.
simple he eat good food, lol!!
Wonderful capture !! Wonderful creation !!
Thank you! I was just lucky!
