This is the view from the top of my (dusty!) crystal lamp shade. I was walking around my house with my new LED light and was looking for things to ‘play’ with!

This is posted too for my friend Byron…I know you sent me the instructions on how to build the light myself!! I just celebrated 15 years at my company (Oriental Trading – a retired teacher should know about us!) and they gave me a gift of money…what a better way to spend it!!!

Not sure what others think – I like the B/W perspective (not my comfort zone!!) and am curious on others!

March 2011

Captured with a Nikon D5000 and a AF-S DX Micro Nikkor 85mm lens (no filters) and no Photoshop. As is… :)

All Products

black, white, b w, spirals, lamp, shade

I am an amateur photographer who has lived my entire life in the Midwestern United States – Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota and now Nebraska! I work full-time as a Marketing Director (analytical…not creative!) for Oriental Trading Company (a toys and novelty company) and find my camera a great place to ‘just hang’ when I’m not in the office or busy at home.

Enjoy – and feel free to leave a comment!!!

I love this!! Walking around the house just looking for ordinary things in extraordinary lighting or unusual angles is SO MUCH FUN (though I admit I’m not very good at it..) Incredible focus, perfect light, and I love the b/w!

Fantastic work, I love that you are working out of you box and this has excellent sharp focus, yes I can see the dust ☺ Congratulations on getting a Micro Light, you will love it. And yes I am familiar with Oriental, in fact if I remember correctly the last year that i was Junior Class sponsor we bought the decorations for the Senior Prom from them ☺ Thank you for the dedication!!!

  • Thanks Byron – I’m looking forward to the fun with the light! It’s funny what the macro lens ‘shows’ that you normally don’t see! :) (I’ve discovered that my wedding ring has lots of scratches!!!) Thanks for the comments…and as always, the support of my work!
