I wanted to try some macro shots tonight and just looked around the house for items to ‘test’! I have a 4" glass ball that I display in my great room. It is extremely colorful!! Looking for the best light, I went to a room, held it up as high as I could and started shooting! This is what came of it – straight from the camera!

Captured with a Nikon D5000 and an AF-S DX Micro Nikkor 85mm lens (no filters) and no Photoshop.

I am an amateur photographer who has lived my entire life in the Midwestern United States – Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota and now Nebraska! I work full-time as a Marketing Director (analytical…not creative!) for Oriental Trading Company (a toys and novelty company) and find my camera a great place to ‘just hang’ when I’m not in the office or busy at home.

The colors are great. This shot is a tad clearer than the other one..It must be so pretty in “person”

  • Jean – thanks! It is clearer – my hand was shaking as I tried to keep it up high! Thanks for visiting!

I bet it was. And then trying to get a great shot off. You did well

  • Thanks Jean – I’m going to upload a pic of the ‘ball’ itself – I’ll let you compare then!

This is cool! With my brief exposure to holding a camera like yours, I now know how difficult it is to do these macro shots and I appreciate them even more. Well done! ;o)

  • Steph – maybe you need to consider your next big purchase? :)

    Just great abstract, love it

  • Again Wendy – thanks! This one I did spend a bit of time on….it’s out of my comfort zone (abstract), so it’s good to hear what others think! Thanks too for the fave!
