This is Pemaqid Point Lighthouse from the parking lot. You can take pics of it from all kinds of angles and get beautiful pics nearly every time. It was my first time there today, and I just loved it! We were able to climb the towers 39 steps and get a few pics from the top. The person who gave a little talk told how when the Federal Gov’t was arranging for the lighthouse to be built, they didn’t trust the locals to get it right, so they hired out of staters. These people came in and built the lighthouse, but they used sea water to mix the cement. In a matter of years, the lighthouse began to crumble and had to be taken down and rebuilt. This time the Locals did it, used fresh water and all was well. The “bad” one was built in 1827 so even back then the Feds didnt always do it right!
