Acrylic on canvas

There is an old painting under this…I wont tell you what is was as it was only relevant to me as an under painting or starting point.
The hardest part of doing abstract work for me is to let go of the conscious mind and draw from those deeper places, working with the randomness of media and moulding thought and paint. This is a very different approach to painting what is in front of you and I reccomend it to any artist, wether your style is realism or not. Go on have a go!

This is an abstraction of journey, the future, potential and questions of where we are going and what are we doing.
The answer is up to you.

The original has now been sold in the 2009 Autumn exhibition of The Nottingham Society Of Artists .

Beautiful abstract! i love the dynamics, the colors and the mystery.
The way you describe the process of abstract painting is striking. Most of my paintings end up as underlayers of new paintings. Only when i am able to let go of the thinking process and get into the right flow am i able to create something worth looking at.
    This one is superb!

  • Thanks Herold. I find constructing the written description as hard as the process of painting when it comes tho abstract work. It is more a translation of the process than an examination of the actual work as the work is itself a communication with the viewer and with myself.I guess we all approach our work slightly differently, which is why, especially with abstraction, our work is unique
