Plateau de l"Aubrac by MARTISTIC

Currently unavailable for purchase

Available to buy on…

Acrylic and coloured pencil on canvas.
120cm x 40cm approx.

This picture is the second attempt at this scene. The first one was sold on ebay to a lady in Sloan Square, London along with another bigger painting called Newquay in the Mist.
This is a much more textured piece than the first as I have used pencil to create the grasses. It was a commissioned work and hangs in an apartment in Paris.

It is an image of a Plateau in the south of France (AUBRAC) And a storm was welling up when I took a shot with my first low res digital camera. This is definitely not a copy of the photo as the image was far too low res to copy from, but it did give me a reference to my memories of the moment.

Fantastic, love the detail in the grass and flowing composition.

  • Thankyou Karen. I tried to make the grass look like it was blowing in the wind, and ‘point’ to the gap between the hills with the darkest part of the sky above so that you are pulled along and into the picture. It works much better as a large picture and seems to make more sense at the original scale.

The provenance of the painting is a great story in its self.:such a brooding scene as this deserves it!. Wish I were in your shoes on this one. . With admiration, Anna

  • Thank you for your comment Anna. Usually I do not revisit a painting, but my client was a family member who has been extremely helpful and encouraging so I did this as a thank you for them. I feel that this is a better picture than the original, maybeI’ll try it again sometime and do even better! : )
