Acrylics on box canvas – 40×50 cm (approx).

The original has now been sold.

This painting is of a boulder by a secluded watercourse on private land near a town called Marvejols in the South of France.
It has been painted with liquid acrylics and full bodied acrylic paints.
I have tried to maintain the focus of the picture on the boulder itself by blurring the background including the cascading stream.
I love large rocks near water and shade from trees. It is the sense of tranquility I get from being in these places that I try to capture.

It’s funny, this is one of the pictures I’m most proud of, but it doesn’t seem to have captured the imagination of anyone else! I guess we aren’t always the best judges of our own work.

    Thankyou Joanne, it’s a scene from one of my favourite places. It may not be the Grand Canyon or Ayres Rock, but it is intimate and ‘spiritual’, and I love to go there when I am in the South of France. It’s almost Zen-like. : )
