A Bald Eagle returning to continue to build its nest with a branch it has broken off a nearby tree.

The image below illustrates the method and precision used by the Eagle to break off the branches from the top of the tree – note how it is plunging down with great force and speed, legs and talons outstretched and ready for contact with the branch to break it off. An amazing sight to witness!

Photographed along the coastline at North Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, BC,Canada, with the ocean in the background.

Nice one, and a promise of things to come! Interesting description of how they break off branches too – I’ve yet to witness that.
