WINNER of the Green Challenge in the Beach, River and Lake Treasures Group

Featured in “300 + Go Long!” October 2009
Featured in “Nature Photography Challenge” March 2011

A Balkan Green Lizard (Lacerta trilineata) photographed in its natural habitat along a river at Chrousos on the Greek Island of Lesvos (or Lesbos).
Lesvos is a renowned location for seeing and photographing migratory birds moving through to breed in eastern Europe and Asia Minor, which is in fact why I was there. Added bonuses to photographing birds included some wonderful landscapes and a variety of reptiles, mammals and wildflowers.

Enjoyed seeing this shot of a lizard you captured. I enjoy photographing Anole Lizards in their natural habitat in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Also, our private garden.

  • Thank you for your comments, much appreciated!

Another brilliant shot – I love how you captured him in an environment with same colours as him: green and grey. Added bonus of an ‘over the shoulder look’. Either you’re very lucky, or very, very patient and knowledgeable, to know where to find them :-) (Judging by the number of brilliant shots you have here, I think I know the answer – nobody can be that lucky!)

  • Lol! Well a bit of luck does come into it from time to time, but the more you are out there, the more you will find!! On this day we were actually looking for birds so this was definitely a bonus! Thank you very much for your kind comments and interest!
