He looks a bit ragged, bet it has been a long summer for him. I was surprised when I saw one in yellowstone at just how lean they are… I dont know why but I expected them to be more solidly built.. weird huh,,, A great photo by the way…lol
Martin Smart replied
Thanks very much Rosemaree. I know what you mean about their build and felt the same way. We watched this one for some time and he seemed pretty desperate for a bite to eat!
Marleia Main
Handsome fellow Martin :))
Martin Smart replied
Thanks Marleia, he looked really weary wandering around on this hot Montana afternoon looking for something to eat or drink. I almost felt like throwing him my sandwich!!
Jay Ryser
I’m surprised this only has a few comments – great shot of a tough critter to capture
Martin Smart replied
Thanks very much for the compliment Jay!

Absolutely fantastic. He surely does look hungry or at least thirsty. We have lots of coyote here (causing a lot of problems for the folks that do live around here because they seem to like cats and smaller dogs as part of their diets). Beautifully captured image.
Martin Smart replied
Hi Karen, thanks very much for your comments, I think when hungry coyote will have a go at anything they can get their teeth into and I can certainly understand their lack in popularity in residential areas!!
Barbara Burkhardt
Is that heat haze? Great image
Martin Smart replied
Yes it is Barbara, it was really hot this day as I’m sure the coyote will agree!! Thanks so much for your comments!
