new dawn fades

An original painting from a series of paintings in acrylics/mixed media which has photographic qualities (but it is a painting none the less). Inspired by a surreal May evening at Hove beach where the sea and sky blended into one – there was no horizon, and the sea turned to mercury.
The original inspiration for this painting was a pure accident of nature. Light and shadow cast between a window blind and reflected onto 2 raw canvases lying on the floor, which were in the early stages of becoming 2 other paintings, created an amzing image. An image I felt I had to recreate. The title of the painting is inspired by a song written by Joy Division.
