Perseus Beheading Medusa
One of Benvenuto Cellini’s great works (1545-54). Here stands Perseus, victorious after slaying Medusa. His muscled body still taut from the exertion. Medusa’s deadly eyes closed forever. Cellini signed his work on the sash across Perseus’ chest.
