These are just so sad!! Something about it just strikes my heart! Reminds me of those who had leprosy in Bible times and how they were outcasts; I believe that’s still the case today. But leprosy is a disease and this is just a job! Do you know why there is a social stigma with shoeshiners?

Sorry I didn’t answer before but somehow I missed it… You’re right, it’s very sad and that’s still the case; I think this kind of stigma is just a form of prejudice, the same way as we have racism, homophobia or anything else; it’s difficult sometimes to determine the origins of these kind of attitudes…
