I am an Australian artist exploring the design possibilities of blending traditional Celtic art principles with Australia’s unique plants and animals to create intricate and vibrant paintings and black on white designs. It’s an expression of my Celtic heritage and my living connection with the Australian landscape, my home and birthplace.
I have explored many media, working on glass, paper, vellum, timber and slate. Currently my works are watercolour gouache, inks and gilding on paper, as well as acrylic and gilding on canvas.
My works also often include calligraphy, a skill and craft I spent many years studying and teaching before immersing myself in the Celtic arts.
In a recent trip to Europe I took many photos in my favourite places. I was entranced by the Queen’s Hamlet at the palace of Versailles, mesmerised by the astounding and intricate architecture of Gaudi in Barcelona and overwhelmed by the endless ancient and beautiful buildings throughout Europe. Some of these I will share with you here.
This trip has supplied me with abundant inspiration for the many new paintings to come….
