Marsha Free

Duluth, GA, United States

I am a wife, a mom, a friend, an aspiring artist who finds my inspiration in music, in art, in the little, minute details of the day. I was an Art History major and Monet, Van Gogh, Mary Cassatt, Georgia O’Keefe and Ansel Adams are my favorite artists. For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed drawing, painting, and creating in any medium that I can get my hands on. My favorite mediums are acrylics, watercolor pencils, watercolors and prismacolor soft colored pencils.
I started painting again after our only daughter started college in the fall of 2009. It was my therapy and now it is my escape from the stresses of every day life. While I work on my paintings, I listen to music while I paint (the bands Collective Soul,Train, and Matchbox Twenty to name a few), and it is from the lyrics of these songs, that I have found not only the titles of my pieces, but inspiration as well. The artistry of finding the right words to elicit emotion and feelings is a true gift. I find myself wanting the illustrate those words. So, I give it my best shot, my all. My hope is that my artwork can bring joy to others. The joy I feel while I’m painting is what I want to share with others. This is why I use such bright vibrant colors – the brighter to color, the happier the mood of the painting.
Since I have become a member of Redbubble, I have had the honor of having several of my works featured and in April 2016, two of my pieces, The Tybee Lighthouse – I Can Always Find My Way and Augusta Beauties, will hang in the Georgia State Capitol through October 2016. This is in conjunction with Georgia Council for the Arts and will feature the artwork of local artists. http://gaarts.org/article/2-uncategorised/178-g...
